The Nod to Naz: A Tribute to Hertz Nazaire exhibit. (October, 2023 to present)
Jennifer Hartfield is the exhibit curator for The Nod to Naz: A Tribute to Hertz Nazaire Traveling Exhibition. This visually compelling exhibition highlights the relationship between art and expression through the eyes of the late artist Hertz Nazaire. As "Naz" battled Sickle Cell Disease, he used his art to advocate, educate, and spread awareness for his community. His large-scale paintings not only represent his pain and struggles living with the disease, but also the celebration of life and purpose. Hertz Nazaire used his gift to evoke equality and patients' rights, and demonstrate to others how to embrace themselves, no matter what challenges you are born into. Hertz Nazaire found his purpose which was advocating for SCD through art.
The Nod to Naz Exhibit made it's debut during SCDAA's Annual National Convention in Arlington, VA in Oct. 2023. It officially launched as a traveling exhibition in April, 2024 at Artists For Humanity, Boston, MA.
